Book Review by Mrs. Henderson
I am not ashamed to admit, I judged this book by the cover and the title. This book drew me in right from the beginning. One of the things I loved the most is that is takes place in a small, fictional town in the Adirondack Mountains of NY. As someone from a small, actual town in the Adirondacks I was able to get a really vivid picture in my head of the scenery. However, that is where the similarities end.
This book follows Aspen and his family, who are charged with stealing memories and emotions from the townspeople and giving them to the cliff that threatens to fall on the town, killing everyone in it. (Hence the title). As the story develops, Aspen learns that the legend isn’t what he has been told and the people that he steals from are left damaged. As Aspen begins to question the life he has always known, his family begins to question his dedication to their cause. Will he be able to save the town, his family, and his own conscience? Check this book out today to find out!
Book Review by Ilse Martinez- Copper Canyon Senior
This is honestly one of the best books I have ever read. If you are not really into reading long novels that take time, then this is perfect. Each part is only 1-2 pages and can be read on it's own without the context of the rest of the book. The story itself is really wonderful and perfectly captures what it is like to grow up as a Mexican-American.
